🎓 Education & Early Career

Shri Sanjay Jaju holds a postgraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering and is also a qualified Cost & Management Accountant. He further pursued an MBA in Finance, equipping him with a strong foundation in both technical and administrative domains.

He began his career in municipal administration, serving as Municipal Commissioner in Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam. In the Andhra Pradesh state government, he played key roles in urban governance, civil supplies, and the IT and Communications Department.


🏛️ Key Roles and Contributions

  • Secretary, IT & Communications, Andhra Pradesh:
    Led the “MeeSeva” e-governance initiative, which revolutionized citizen service delivery through digital platforms, winning several national awards.
  • Director, NHIDCL:
    Played a founding role in the National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited, managing highway infrastructure in strategic regions like the Northeast and border areas.
  • Additional Secretary, Department of Defence Production:
    Spearheaded critical reforms including the corporatization of the Ordnance Factory Board. He also led innovation programs such as the Defence India Startup Challenge under the iDEX initiative, which was recognized with the Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration in 2021.

📌 Role as Secretary, Information & Broadcasting

Appointed in February 2024, Shri Jaju heads the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, overseeing the government’s media strategy, regulatory framework, and public broadcasting operations. His responsibilities include:

  • Supervision of major media institutions including Doordarshan, All India Radio, and the Press Information Bureau.
  • Oversight of the Central Board of Film Certification and digital media policy formulation.
  • Policy modernization for OTT regulation and support for indigenous content platforms.

Under his leadership, the ministry has also advanced plans to launch a public sector OTT platform aimed at showcasing archival, educational, and cultural content, while supporting Indian creators through innovative monetization models.

He has also conducted operational reviews for major public events such as the Maha Kumbh Mela, focusing on technological readiness and media outreach strategies.
