Shri Tanmay Kumar is a senior IAS officer with extensive experience in environmental governance. After joining the service in 1993, he held various roles in environmental administration and regulation before becoming Joint Secretary and later Additional Secretary in the EF&CC ministry.

In January 2025, he was appointed Secretary of EF&CC, the administrative head responsible for national environment and forest policy.
