Sudhansh Pant

Sudhansh Pant is a 1991-batch Indian Administrative Service officer from the Rajasthan cadre. He assumed office as the Chief Secretary of Rajasthan on 31 December 2023, officially taking charge on 1 January 2024, succeeding Usha Sharma. He also holds additional charge as Chairperson of the Rajasthan Mines and Mineral Corporation Limited.


Education & Background

Born in Lucknow on 14 February 1967, Sudhansh Pant holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur. He is known for his structured, analytical approach to governance and a strong academic foundation.


Career and Appointments

  • He began his administrative career with field postings as Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) in Jaipur, and later served as District Collector in Jaisalmer, Jhunjhunu, Bhilwara, and Jaipur.
  • In the Rajasthan state administration, he has worked in departments such as Tribal Area Development, Public Health Engineering, and Pollution Control.
  • At the central level, Pant served in senior roles including Union Health Secretary, Secretary in the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, and other leadership positions in the Ministries of Commerce and Health.
  • His appointment as Chief Secretary was made following his repatriation from central deputation at the request of the Rajasthan government.
