Rajesh Kumar Appointed as Director (Finance) of National Film Development Corporation (NFDC)

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Rajesh Kumar as the new Director (Finance) of the National Film Development Corporation Limited (NFDC). The announcement was made through an official order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT). Kumar’s tenure will be for five years from the date he assumes office, or until his superannuation or further orders—whichever comes first.

Currently serving as Executive Director at Bridge and Roof Co. (India) Limited, a central public sector enterprise under the Ministry of Heavy Industries, Kumar brings over 20 years of experience in corporate finance, budgeting, and project management. He has played a significant role in optimizing financial operations and supporting infrastructure initiatives across India.

Strategic Importance of the Appointment

Rajesh Kumar’s appointment comes at a crucial time for NFDC, as the organization undertakes efforts to modernize its operations and strengthen its global presence. His expertise in financial governance is expected to enhance fiscal discipline and drive strategic budgeting, especially as the Indian film industry undergoes rapid digital and structural transformation.

The move aligns with the government’s broader push to professionalize public sector leadership by appointing experienced executives in key roles—particularly in sectors like culture and media, where financial stewardship is becoming increasingly critical.
