IPS Officers Usha Rangnani and Vijay Yogi Take Up Key Roles in BPR&D and Delhi Police

In significant appointments within the Indian Police Service, the Ministry of Home Affairs has reassigned two senior IPS officers to crucial new roles—bolstering both national-level policing strategy and regional law enforcement in the capital.


Usha Rangnani Appointed DIG, BPR&D

Mrs. Usha Rangnani, a 2011-batch IPS officer from the AGMUT cadre, has been appointed as Deputy Inspector General (DIG) in the Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D). Her posting is on central deputation, in accordance with government procedures.

Known for her administrative acumen and hands-on experience in policing across various territories under AGMUT, Rangnani’s new role will involve:

  • Contributing to police research and policy formulation
  • Supporting modernisation initiatives across Indian police forces
  • Enhancing inter-agency coordination at the national level

Her appointment reflects the central government’s push toward evidence-based policing and strategic reforms.


Vijay Yogi Takes Charge as Joint Commissioner, Eastern Range, Delhi Police

In a reshuffle within Delhi Police, IPS Vijay Yogi, a 2007-batch officer, has been appointed as Joint Commissioner, Eastern Range. Previously serving as DCP in both West and South Delhi, Yogi is recognized for his strong leadership in:

  • Crime control and major law enforcement operations
  • Effective public engagement strategies
  • Administrative efficiency in high-pressure zones

A native of Loyal, Jhunjhunu (Rajasthan), Yogi was recently honored by members of the Rajasthan Olympic Association for his continued contributions to public service.

His new position places him in charge of one of Delhi’s most dynamic and densely populated policing zones, overseeing key areas where law and order, community policing, and rapid response are critical to urban security.
